Jebba lies on the south bank of the Niger River in Kwara State, facing Niger State across the water. On the map, the river dominates everything: a wide channel sweeping across the frame, with islands and rocky outcrops breaking the flow. The Jebba Hydroelectric Power Station, completed in the 1980s, holds back a reservoir upstream and is one of Nigeria's major power sources.
