Jiayue is a town in eastern Shandong Province, in countryside of farmland, villages and low rolling ground between the inland plains and the coast. On a map it is a small built-up area where roads meet, surrounded by an irregular patchwork of fields, orchards and village clusters.
The streets in the centre are mostly straight and follow a loose grid. Toward the edges of town they give way to country lanes and field boundaries. Main roads connect the town with nearby villages and larger cities in the province, cutting clear lines across the rural pattern.
