Kim lies in Surat district in southern Gujarat, near the river of the same name. It is a place shaped by movement. The main railway line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad passes through it, and major roads run close by, so the map is organised along strong north–south corridors.
Around those corridors, the town has grown in pockets of housing, markets and industrial plots, with farmland beyond. The Kim River winds across the flat coastal plain in slow bends. It is the only strongly curved line in a landscape otherwise defined by straight infrastructure.
