Kotharia lies just south of Rajkot, in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, and its map is a snapshot of a city expanding outward. The original village core is still visible as a small, irregular knot of lanes. Rajkot is one of Gujarat's major industrial and commercial centres, and much of that growth has spread into places like Kotharia.
