Moonniyur is a panchayat in the Malappuram district of Kerala, in the low, green country of the Malabar region. Like many villages in the area, it has no single dense centre. Houses are spread through coconut groves and gardens, and the map shows a wide, even pattern of small roads and lanes instead of one packed town.
The lanes branch and wind around small rises, paddy fields and water channels, connecting clusters of homes, mosques, schools and markets. Main roads pass through toward the larger towns nearby, and the map uses them as a frame around the finer network of local paths.
