Historic centre
The old town gathers on higher ground away from the shore. Its tight, irregular streets form the densest part of the map.

Motril Map Poster & Print
Motril is the main town on Granada's Costa Tropical, a short distance inland from the Mediterranean. On a map the old centre forms a dense knot of streets on rising ground. The flat delta plain of the Guadalfeo River spreads out to the west, and the port district of Puerto de Motril sits apart on the coast to the south. Mountains rise steeply behind, squeezing the town between slope and sea.
For centuries the plain around Motril was planted with sugar cane, and the town was one of Europe's centres of sugar production. Its old mills and a museum still record that history. Today the mild subtropical climate supports crops such as avocados, mangoes and custard apples, many grown in greenhouses across the coastal plain. The port handles trade and ferry routes to North Africa.
A Motril map poster reflects this layered geography: the compact historic streets, the open grid of fields and greenhouses on the plain, and the clean lines of the harbour breakwaters against the sea. It suits anyone who knows the Costa Tropical, from families who have farmed the delta for generations to people who return every summer to the beaches below the town.

Puerto de Motril
The port district sits on the coast south of the centre. Its breakwaters and quays draw straight, geometric lines into the Mediterranean.
Guadalfeo plain
West of the town, the flat delta of the Guadalfeo River is divided into fields and greenhouses. They form a fine, rectangular pattern that stretches toward the sea.
