Nettuno Map Poster & Print
Nettuno lies on the Tyrrhenian coast south of Rome, right next to Anzio, and the two towns form an almost continuous strip along the shore. On a map, Nettuno's compact medieval borgo sits at the water's edge, a small fortified cluster of lanes. Newer streets fan out behind it and stretch along the coast in both directions.
The Renaissance Forte Sangallo guards the seafront, a square fortress that remains one of the town's defining shapes. Nettuno is also closely linked to the Allied landings at Anzio in January 1944. The Sicily-Rome American Cemetery on the edge of town is the resting place of thousands of American soldiers who died in the Italian campaign.
