Ödemiş lies in the interior of İzmir Province, in the valley of the Küçük Menderes River. The town sits on the flat valley floor with the Bozdağ range rising to the south, and the map shows that contrast clearly: a dense grid on level land, with the terrain and roads growing more complex as they climb towards the mountains.
The plain around Ödemiş is intensively farmed, and the town is known across Turkey for its potatoes. Fields, orchards and irrigation channels fill the open land between villages. In the hills nearby lies Birgi, a historic village with Ottoman houses and an old mosque, and higher up, the Bozdağ plateau is a popular summer and ski destination.
