Patancheru lies on the northwestern edge of Hyderabad, where the city gives way to industrial estates and farmland. From above, the old town centre is a small cluster of lanes along the Mumbai highway, and newer housing and factories spread out around it.
The Outer Ring Road passes close by, a wide curved line that connects Patancheru with the rest of the metropolitan area. Lakes and tanks lie scattered through the area, adding water to a landscape that is changing quickly.
