The switchback road
The main access road winds up the hill in hairpin turns. It is the clearest line on the map, surrounded by a close web of narrow passages and stairways.

Vidigal Map Poster & Print
Vidigal occupies the slopes of Morro Dois Irmãos, the twin-peaked hill between Leblon and São Conrado on Rio de Janeiro's South Zone coast. At its foot is Avenida Niemeyer, the road cut into the cliffs above the Atlantic. From there the community climbs steeply, and its lanes, stairways and alleys form one of the most intricate street patterns in the city.
From above, Vidigal looks like a dense, organic mass of buildings pressed against the rock. There are only a few paths wide enough to show up as roads, and the main one zigzags up the hill in tight bends. Above the highest houses the forest takes over, and a popular hiking trail leads from the upper part of the community to the summit of Dois Irmãos, with wide views over Ipanema and Leblon.
A Vidigal map poster sets that density against the empty sweep of the ocean and the dark mass of the mountain. It is a strong composition, with the coastline on one side, the peaks on the other and a community built step by step on the steep ground between them.

Avenida Niemeyer
The cliffside road along the sea marks the lower edge of Vidigal. It connects Leblon with São Conrado and follows the curve of the rocky shore.
Dois Irmãos summit
Above the community, the twin peaks and their forest frame the top of the print. The trail to the summit starts in Vidigal and is widely known for its view.

Kuki Vidigal
Ikarita ifite icyo isobanura
For residents, a map of Vidigal is a map of home, drawn with the same attention as any part of the city below. For visitors who climbed the trail or stayed on the hill, it brings back a specific view of Rio.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the date of your hike or a street you lived on, and keep the coordinates. Noir makes the dark mountain and bright coast especially dramatic, and Paper and Sand give a softer look.
