Zverevo is a town in Rostov oblast in southern Russia, part of the eastern Donbas coal basin. It grew up around coal mining in the twentieth century, and the map still shows that origin. Residential districts are laid out on regular grids. Around the edges lie former mine sites, railway spurs and the conical spoil heaps typical of the region.
The streets are wide and straight, typical of planned Soviet industrial towns, with blocks of apartment buildings in the centre and lower houses on the outskirts.
