The Lolo River
The river that gives the province half its name runs through the town, and its curving course forms the backbone of the map around which the streets arrange themselves.

Koulamoutou Map Poster & Print
Koulamoutou is the capital of Ogooué-Lolo province, set in the hilly, heavily forested interior of Gabon. The town takes its shape from the valley of the Lolo River, and on a map the settlement looks like a loose cluster of streets gathered along the water and climbing the nearby slopes rather than a planned grid. Beyond the edge of town, roads thin quickly into the surrounding forest.
That contrast between a compact centre and a wide empty margin is what gives the map its character. Streets bend to follow the terrain, some ending abruptly where the ground rises or the forest begins. The river cuts a clear line through the composition, and the few main roads that lead out toward other towns of the province act as the town's only straight strokes.
A Koulamoutou map poster keeps that sense of a place held within the landscape. Printed in black and white, the town becomes a small, dense knot of lines surrounded by open space, a quiet record of a regional centre that most maps of Africa leave unnamed. It suits anyone who has lived, worked or grown up in this part of Gabon.

Hillside streets
The town spreads over uneven ground, so its streets curve and branch instead of forming a grid. On the poster this produces an irregular, hand-drawn looking pattern.
Forest margins
Around the built-up area the road network fades out quickly, leaving generous blank space that frames the town and hints at the dense forest of central Gabon.
