Compact town core
Streets and plots form a tight cluster in the centre. Their density stands out clearly against the unbuilt land that surrounds the town on every side.

Balanbale Map Poster & Print
Balanbale is a town in the Galguduud region of central Somalia, not far from the border with Ethiopia. The country around it is flat and semi-arid, which shapes how the town looks from above. There are no rivers or coastline to follow, so the settlement forms a compact cluster of streets surrounded by wide, open ground.
In a landscape like this, roads and tracks are the main lines on the map. They come in from the surrounding plains and meet at the town, which has long served as a stop for travel and trade across the region. Pastoral life is central here, and the town is a gathering point for the wider countryside.
This spare setting makes for a clear, quiet composition. A Balanbale map poster shows a small street pattern in the middle of a mostly empty field. The routes leading in and out of town become the lines that hold the design together.

Converging routes
Roads and tracks run in from several directions and meet at the town. On the poster they read as long, thin lines crossing an otherwise open page.
Open plains
The flat, dry country around Balanbale leaves wide empty areas on the map. That space gives the settlement at its centre a strong, simple outline.
