The Irtysh channels
The river divides into several branches near the city, so strands of water and long islands run through the frame beside the streets.

Beitun Map Poster & Print
Beitun lies in the Altay region of northern Xinjiang and is administered by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. It is one of the newer cities in the area, and the map shows it. Wide arterial roads cross at clear right angles and divide the town into large, regular blocks, with none of the tangled lanes you would find in an older settlement.
Beside the city runs the Irtysh, which flows northwest toward Kazakhstan and eventually Siberia. Here the river spreads into several channels and islands, and on a map these read as loose, organic strokes against the ruled streets. Around the town, irrigated fields form a patchwork of long rectangles set in the open steppe landscape of the Altay foothills.
A Beitun map poster sets two kinds of order side by side. On one side is the planned geometry of the new streets. On the other is the free movement of a large river finding its own way across the plain. Black and white makes this contrast especially clear.

Planned block grid
Wide avenues meet at right angles and mark out generous blocks, a layout that reflects the city's recent planning and reads cleanly in print.
Irrigated field pattern
Around the urban core, cultivated land is divided into long rectangles, and this agricultural grid extends the city's geometry toward the edges of the poster.

Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
This is a poster for people connected to the far north of Xinjiang, whether they live there, work there or once travelled along the Irtysh. The map pairs a young street plan with an old river, which makes it a thoughtful piece for a study or an office wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be edited, so you can write the name in any form you prefer and add a meaningful date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room.
