Border road axis
The main road through the city leads directly to the crossing with India and acts as the spine the rest of the street pattern hangs from.

Birgañj Map Poster & Print
Birgañj lies on the flat Terai plain in southern Nepal, directly on the border with India, across from Raxaul in Bihar. On a map the city is organised around the main road running north–south to the border crossing. Commercial streets and neighbourhoods grow outward from it on both sides, and farmland surrounds the city in every direction.
It is one of Nepal's most important trade gateways, and a large share of the country's imports passes through its customs point and its dry port. Because of that role, much of the city's layout has been shaped by movement. Market streets, transport depots and warehouse areas cluster near the routes leading to and from the border.
A Birgañj map poster shows a city with a strong central axis and a spreading, lower-density fabric around it. There is no dramatic terrain here. The interest lies in the road network: busy lines toward the border, smaller streets filling in between, and the open plain beyond giving the city its outline.

Trade infrastructure
Areas around the customs point and the dry port form larger, more open blocks that reflect the city's role in Nepal's trade.
Terai plain
Flat farmland surrounds the city on all sides, so the built-up area appears as a clear shape set against a quiet, open background.
