Dā‘il is a town in Daraa Governorate in southern Syria, north of the city of Daraa. It lies on the Hauran, a wide, fairly flat plain of volcanic soil that has been farmed for grain since ancient times. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets and houses, with open fields stretching away on every side.
Towns on the Hauran plain tend to be dense at the centre, with houses close together and narrow lanes. Wider roads lead out toward neighbouring villages and the main routes of the region. Past the last houses, the land is divided into large fields, and their straight boundaries continue far across the plain.
