Le faʻafanua
Bukoba is the main town of Tanzania's Kagera Region, set on the western shore of Lake Victoria not far south of the border with Uganda. On a map the lake fills the eastern side of the frame as an open expanse, and the town spreads along a narrow lakeside strip before climbing the slopes behind it. The layout is informal and organic, with roads following the land rather than a strict grid.
The lakeshore is the town's organising line. A small port handles ferry connections across the lake to Mwanza, and the airstrip runs close to the water. Inland, the ridges behind the town support banana gardens and coffee farms, crops long associated with the Haya people of the region. The Kagera River, one of the main rivers feeding Lake Victoria, enters the lake further north.
A Bukoba map poster is a study in edges: the soft curve of the shoreline, the thin fringe of streets along it, and the roads that wind up into the hills. With the lake occupying a large part of the sheet, the composition feels spacious and calm, and it holds its own on a wall even in the simplest black and white.
The eastern side of the map is open water, with the shoreline tracing a gentle curve past the town and its small harbour, where ferries link Bukoba with Mwanza.
Bukoba's airstrip lies close to the shore, and its runway forms one of the few long, perfectly straight lines in the town's otherwise organic layout.
Behind the lakeside strip the land rises into ridges, and the roads climb in bends and switchbacks toward the farmland of the Kagera highlands.

Aisea Bukoba
Bukoba is home for many families in Kagera and a place of memory for those who have moved to Dar es Salaam or abroad. A map of the lakeside town keeps that connection visible, whether in a home, a school or an office.
Use the title and subtitle for a family name, a year or a short dedication, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and download print-ready files or order a matte poster.
