Le faʻafanua
Nago covers the narrow middle of northern Okinawa Island, so it has a coastline on two seas. The main town sits on the western side around the curve of Nago Bay, with a grid of streets pressed between the water and the wooded hills behind. To the west the Motobu Peninsula begins, and Nago is the usual starting point for trips further north.
The city is widely known as the host of the 2000 G8 summit, held at a conference venue on its coast. It is also home to the Orion brewery, Okinawa's best-known beer. Much of the municipal area outside the town centre is hilly and forested, with small settlements along the shore and a few roads crossing the island to the eastern coast.
A Nago map poster shows this mix of dense town and open island. The bay gives the composition a strong curve. Hills show up as empty space cut by winding roads, and the eastern shore adds a second, more broken coastline. It is a map with a lot of edge and very little flat ground.
A wide, smooth arc of coast on the East China Sea side. The main streets and waterfront road follow its curve, giving the town a clear crescent shape.
Because the island is narrow here, the city reaches both the western bay and the Pacific side. Roads crossing the hills link the two shores.
Just west of the centre, the Motobu Peninsula juts out into the sea. Coastal roads lead from Nago out to its beaches, hills and small harbours.

Aisea Nago
Nago suits anyone with ties to northern Okinawa, whether through family, military service, a summer spent on the Motobu coast, or a trip to the island's quieter half. The double coastline makes the map look distinctive even at small sizes.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example to mark a beach, a house or the year you arrived. Blueprint and Noir bring out the shape of the bay well. Classic, Paper and Sand give it a lighter look.
