Le faʻafanua
Quartu Sant'Elena sits just east of Cagliari on the southern coast of Sardinia, and from above the two are separated mainly by water. The Molentargius wetland, a patchwork of salt pans and shallow basins, forms a large blank shape between them, while the town itself spreads across flat ground with a compact older centre and newer blocks pressing outward on every side.
To the south the land meets the Gulf of Cagliari in a long, gentle arc of beach, and the settlement follows the shore eastward in a looser ribbon of roads and scattered houses. Quartu is counted among the most populous towns on the island, yet much of its territory is coast and open countryside rather than dense grid.
A Quartu Sant'Elena map poster captures that balance: a tight street pattern at the centre, the geometric outlines of the salt ponds, and a coastline that runs off the edge of the frame. In black and white the wetland reads almost like a second, quieter town drawn in water.
Rectangular evaporation basins and lagoons between Quartu and Cagliari create a crisp geometric field, a protected wetland known for the flamingos that feed in its shallow water.
A long sandy curve on the Gulf of Cagliari carries a road and a thin line of development eastward, giving the poster a clean edge of open sea.
At the heart of town, narrower and more irregular streets gather around the historic core before loosening into the wider, straighter blocks of later growth.

Aisea Quartu Sant'Elena
People who grew up here, or who spent summers on its beaches, often want the whole picture at once: town, wetland and sea. The map is quiet enough to hang in a living room and detailed enough to find a familiar street.
