Le faʻafanua
Tiruchirappalli, usually called Trichy, lies on the south bank of the Kaveri River in central Tamil Nadu. Just north of the city the river divides, with the Kollidam branch running parallel to the main channel, and the long island between them holds the temple town of Srirangam. On the map the two channels form wide pale bands that frame the island and separate it from the city.
Srirangam's Ranganathaswamy Temple is one of the largest functioning Hindu temple complexes in the world. Its streets are laid out in concentric rectangles, one inside another, following the temple's successive enclosure walls. Seen from above, this is one of the most striking street patterns anywhere, a set of nested frames with the sanctum at the centre.
On the city side, the Rockfort rises abruptly from the old town, a massive outcrop crowned by the Ucchi Pillayar Temple, with bazaar streets packed around its base. Beyond it the city spreads south and east across the plain. A Tiruchirappalli map poster brings together the rock, the river and the island temple in a single, balanced composition.

The river divides into two broad channels that enclose Srirangam island, giving the print two wide bands of water running from west to east.
The rock outcrop rises from the heart of the old town, surrounded by tightly packed market streets that spread out from its base.

Aisea Tiruchirappalli
Trichy matters to pilgrims, to students of its colleges and to families with roots along the Kaveri. The temple's nested streets make this one of the most graphic maps in India, and people notice the design even without knowing the place.
Add a title such as Trichy or Srirangam, a subtitle and the coordinates line, and choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The $9 HD files cover six sizes, from 30×40 cm to 24×36″.
