Mapa
Bingöl Map Poster & Print
Bingöl lies in eastern Turkey, in a high basin surrounded by mountains at more than 1,100 metres above sea level. From above the city spreads across the valley floor and up the lower slopes, its central streets fairly dense and regular, while outer neighbourhoods follow the contours of the hills in curving lines and terraces.
The name is usually translated as thousand lakes, a reference to the many small lakes scattered across the high mountains of the province. The city itself is a regional centre for a largely rural, mountainous area, and much of its current urban fabric dates from recent decades, as new neighbourhoods have spread outward from the old core.
A Bingöl map poster brings out the relationship between city and terrain. Streets tighten in the centre, roads bend to follow the slopes, and the surrounding high ground leaves wide open space around the built-up area. The result is an image of a mountain city shaped by its basin, calm and uncluttered in black and white.

Central streets
The older centre forms a compact grid of shops and offices, the densest zone of detail and the point where the main roads converge.
Hillside neighbourhoods
Newer districts climb the lower slopes in curved streets and stepped blocks, their shapes following the terrain rather than a straight plan.
