Mapa
Lenexa Map Poster & Print
Lenexa is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, on the southwestern side of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The map is framed by two interstates: I-35 runs diagonally along the east, and I-435 swings across the city. Between them, the square-mile grid of section-line roads contains curving residential streets and business parks.
The city is named after Na-Nex-Se, a Shawnee woman, and in the early twentieth century its farms grew so much spinach that Lenexa called itself the spinach capital of the world, a history still celebrated at a yearly festival. Today, the newer City Center district gives the city a planned civic core.
A Lenexa map poster shows a suburb with a clear structure: the straight section-line roads, the looping cul-de-sacs, the highway interchanges, and the water bodies scattered through the parks, including Lake Lenexa in Black Hoof Park. The western part is more open, where development meets the remaining farmland and woods.
