Bamako Map Poster & Print
Bamako sits on the Niger River, which is broad and braided here, with sandbanks and small islands that shift with the seasons. The older city lies on the north bank, and a newer, rapidly growing half spreads across the south bank. From above, the river is the dominant shape on the sheet, a wide pale band dividing two very different street patterns.
Several bridges tie the two banks together, and each draws a firm line across the water. North of the centre the land rises into a sandstone escarpment, where Koulouba hill holds the presidential palace and looks down over the city. Beyond the centre, neighbourhoods extend outward in loose grids that follow the valley and thin out toward the surrounding plain.
A Bamako map poster captures one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa, the capital of Mali and its commercial centre. The name is often translated as crocodile river, a reminder of how closely the city has always been tied to the water. Printed in black and white, the Niger and its islands form a composition that feels almost like a drawing of the river itself.

Bridges across the water
A handful of long bridges connect the two banks, their straight lines standing out clearly against the open water of the Niger in every style.
Koulouba hill
The escarpment north of the centre rises above the street grid, with the presidential palace on its heights overlooking the river valley and the city below.
