Burlingame is a city in San Mateo County, California, on the San Francisco Peninsula just south of San Francisco International Airport. It rises from the flat bayfront in the east to wooded hills in the west. The city is known for its trees, with long rows of eucalyptus along El Camino Real and a carefully kept urban forest.
The map reads in parallel bands. Along the bay, a strip of hotels and offices sits between the shoreline and U.S. 101. Inland, the Caltrain line and El Camino Real run side by side through the city and frame a compact downtown around Burlingame Avenue.
