Lake Merritt
The tidal lagoon sits just east of downtown, its irregular shoreline circled by a road and path. On the poster it reads as a large, organic void in the grid.

Oakland Map Poster & Print
Oakland faces San Francisco across the bay, and its map runs in clear bands from west to east. Along the waterfront, the Port of Oakland spreads out in wide terminals and channels, while downtown sits in a compact grid around Broadway. Just east of it lies Lake Merritt, a tidal lagoon whose rounded outline is one of the most distinctive shapes on any Bay Area map.
Beyond the lake, the grids of the flatlands rise toward the Oakland Hills, where streets turn into long curving roads that follow the contours. Parkland covers much of the ridge, and freeways cut diagonal lines through the city before converging near the approach to the Bay Bridge. An Oakland map poster captures this progression from industrial shoreline to steep residential slopes in a single frame.
Lake Merritt was designated a wildlife refuge in 1870, often cited as the first in the United States. The Oakland Estuary separates the city from the island of Alameda, and the Bay Bridge links it to San Francisco. The city has long been one of the busiest container ports on the West Coast and a major cultural centre of the East Bay.

Port of Oakland
Container terminals and berths along the western shore form broad, flat shapes cut by channels, a strongly geometric edge facing the bay and the city across it.
The hills
In the east, roads twist along ridges and canyons, with extensive parkland beyond. The street pattern changes from rectilinear to winding within a few blocks.

Kwa nini Oakland
Ramani yenye maana
Oakland means something specific to those who live there: a neighbourhood around the lake, a street in the hills, a view across the bay. Personalise the title, add a subtitle with a year, and keep the coordinates to pin the place precisely.
Noir brings out the port and freeway lines, while Paper or Sand softens the hills. Classic black & white and Blueprint are also available. The HD download costs $9 for six sizes, and printed posters ship from partners in 30+ countries.
