Decatur is the county seat of DeKalb County, just east of Atlanta, and one of the oldest cities in the metro area. Its map centres on Decatur Square, where the historic DeKalb County Courthouse stands. From there, a network of streets spreads out through tree-lined residential neighbourhoods, many of them laid out in the early twentieth century.
The city is known for its compact, walkable downtown, and a MARTA rail station sits right beneath the square, linking Decatur directly with Atlanta.
