Trussville Map Poster & Print
Trussville lies north-east of Birmingham in a valley between the long ridges typical of this part of Alabama. From above, the city follows the land. The Cahaba River runs through its heart, Interstate 59 crosses on a diagonal, and residential streets curve along the slopes and into wooded hollows. The ridges themselves remain mostly green, and they frame the town on the map.
The Cahaba River rises near Trussville and flows south-west through central Alabama. It is known as one of the most biologically diverse rivers in the United States. The town takes its name from Warren Truss, an early settler. Its historic centre is laid out on a regular grid near the river, which contrasts with the winding subdivisions that surround it.
A Trussville map poster shows the meeting of a small-town core and modern suburban growth. There is a neat grid by the river, looping streets on the hillsides and the strong line of the interstate. The wooded ridges give the composition breathing room and add a sense of the landscape around this growing city.

Historic grid
Trussville’s original downtown is laid out in a small, regular grid of blocks near the river. It is the most orderly part of the map.
Ridge and valley
Long wooded ridges run parallel on either side of the town. Streets curve around them, which creates the loops and cul-de-sacs of the outer neighbourhoods.
