Ciudad del Carmen Map Poster & Print
Ciudad del Carmen occupies the western end of Isla del Carmen, a narrow island that separates the Laguna de Términos from the Gulf of Mexico. On a map the town fills the island's broad tip, its streets running in a loose grid that stops abruptly at water on three sides. Beaches trace the Gulf shore, while the lagoon side is ragged with docks, inlets and small harbours.
The island is linked to the mainland by long road bridges, and the Puente El Zacatal to the west is one of the longest in Mexico, a thin line drawn across open water. Since the discovery of large offshore oil fields in the Bay of Campeche in the 1970s, the city has served as a base for the petroleum industry, and its port and airport reflect that role.
A Ciudad del Carmen map poster reduces all of this to a few strong elements: the curve of the island, the sweep of the lagoon and the bridge heading off the edge of the frame. Because so much of the composition is water, the street pattern reads as a compact, dense block of lines surrounded by calm white or dark space, depending on the style chosen.

Laguna de Términos
The large shallow lagoon behind the city, one of the largest coastal lagoons in Mexico, gives the map a wide open field that frames the compact urban shape.
Zacatal bridge
A long road bridge crosses the channel between the island and the mainland, appearing on the map as a single straight line stretched across open water.
