Iga Map Poster & Print
Iga lies in western Mie Prefecture, in the Iga Basin, a wide bowl of land surrounded by low mountains. From above, the basin floor is filled with rice fields, villages and small rivers, while forested hills close in on every side. The main town centre, Ueno, grew around its castle, and its streets still reflect the layout of a traditional castle town.
Iga is known throughout Japan as the home of the Iga ninja, whose traditions are presented at the ninja museum in Ueno Park. The rebuilt Iga Ueno Castle, known for its tall stone walls, stands on a hill above the town. Iga is also the birthplace of the haiku poet Matsuo Bashō, and several sites in the town are dedicated to him.
An Iga map poster captures the enclosed shape of the basin, with the dense grid of Ueno at its centre and roads fanning out across the fields. The surrounding hills frame the composition naturally, giving the map a sense of calm and containment.

Mountain-ringed basin
Low forested mountains surround the basin on all sides, framing the fields and villages that fill the flat land at its centre.
Castle-town grid
The streets of Ueno follow the orderly pattern of a traditional castle town, with narrow blocks and straight lanes around the historic core.
