Thenkasi Map Poster & Print
Thenkasi, also written Tenkasi, is a town in southern Tamil Nadu, close to the Kerala border, where the plains meet the Western Ghats. Its name means "Kasi of the south", and at its centre stands the Kasi Viswanathar Temple, whose tall gopuram is visible across the town. The streets around the temple set the pattern for the old core.
To the west, the ground rises quickly into the forested Ghats, and the waterfalls of Courtallam are just a short drive away. On a map that means a dense, fine-grained town on the eastern side, with roads that climb and thin out toward the mountains.
A Thenkasi map poster places the temple town between plain and mountains. Straight streets surround the sacred centre, lanes branch off toward the paddies, and higher ground gradually encroaches from the west. It's a composition with a clear centre and strong sense of place, well suited to anyone with ties to this corner of Tamil Nadu.

Western Ghats foothills
West of the town, the ground rises into the hills. Roads thin out and bend as they climb toward Courtallam and the Kerala border.
Paddies and water
Irrigated fields and tanks surround the built-up area, forming open ground and soft shapes between the roads leading out of town.
