Akim Oda lies in the Eastern Region of Ghana, within the forest zone that stretches across the south of the country. On a map the town forms a compact network of streets close to the Birim River. Akim Oda is the capital of the Birim Central Municipal District and the traditional seat of the Akyem Kotoku, one of the Akyem states.
