Anié is a town in the Plateaux region of central Togo, in a landscape of farmland, savanna woodland and scattered hills. It lies on the main north–south route through the country, and that road has done much to shape the town, drawing houses, shops and markets along its length.
On the map, Anié reads as a settlement organised around its through road, with a denser centre where the main streets meet and a looser pattern of lanes and compounds spreading outward. A river of the same name runs through the area, and its course adds a meandering line to the otherwise open surroundings.
