Main road spine
The main road runs through the town and sets its direction. Most streets start from it, so the poster has a clear line running across the frame.

Āykel Map Poster & Print
Āykel is a town of around 34,000 people in the Amhara Region of northwestern Ethiopia. It sits in the highlands west of Gondar, and its layout follows the main road that crosses the area, with neighbourhoods spreading out on both sides.
On the map, that road is the backbone. Side streets branch off it in short, irregular runs that follow the slope of the land. The built-up area stretches along the route more than it spreads in a circle, a pattern many Ethiopian highland towns share where the road came first and the town grew beside it.
An Āykel map poster turns that linear shape into a clean composition. One strong line runs through the frame, finer streets hang off it, and open farmland fills the edges. It is a simple picture of how a highland market town is organised.

Hillside side streets
Short lanes climb away from the main road at irregular angles, shaped by the ground. In monochrome they add a fine, uneven rhythm on either side.
Farmland edges
Beyond the last houses, the map opens into highland fields and tracks. That frames the town as a compact settlement in a wide rural landscape.
