Bāh is a town and tehsil headquarters in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, in the far south-east corner of the district. From above, it has a dense central bazaar, lanes branching out from it, and roads leading away to the surrounding villages. Beyond the town, the land breaks into the eroded ravines typical of the Yamuna and Chambal valleys, with fields between the gullies.
The area is agricultural and deeply rural, and the town acts as the local centre for trade and administration. The Bateshwar temple complex, on a bend of the Yamuna, lies within the same tehsil and draws pilgrims and a well-known seasonal fair. That gives the wider area a significance beyond its size.
