Borşa sits in the far north of Romania, in the upper valley of the Vişeu River. It is a long, narrow town. Houses and farmsteads follow the river and the main road for many kilometres, and side lanes climb short distances into the side valleys. From above, the town looks like one long line with small branches off it.
To the south rise the Rodna Mountains, whose high ridges mark the edge of the map. To the east the road climbs toward the Prislop Pass and crosses into Bucovina. A Borşa map poster shows how the town fills the space between these mountain ranges: busy along the valley floor and almost empty on the slopes.
The ski area and tourist complex on the eastern side of town draw winter visitors. In summer, hikers use Borşa as a base for walks into the Rodna range, including the route to the Horses' Waterfall. On the map, all of this shows up as a few steep roads climbing away from the valley.

Rodna Mountains
High ridges close off the southern side of the frame. Only thin forest roads cut into the slopes, so the upper part of the map is quiet and uncrowded.
Road to Prislop
East of town, the road winds uphill toward the Prislop Pass on its way to Bucovina. Its tight bends make a clear, lively pattern at the edge of the map.
