Contour-following roads
The main roads wind along the slopes and through the valleys and seldom run straight for long. Their curves give the poster most of its movement.

Daxie Map Poster & Print
Daxie is in the eastern part of Chongqing municipality, a region of steep ridges, deep valleys and farmland cut into the hillsides. Flat ground is scarce here, so the town's streets follow the terrain instead of a grid. They curve along the contours, climb in switchbacks and gather wherever the valley floor opens up.
This mountain setting shows on the map in the character of every line. The roads twist, the building clusters stretch out along them, and the surrounding countryside is broken up by small paths and scattered settlements. There are hardly any long straight lines. Even a small place takes on a lively, irregular shape.
A Daxie map poster turns this mountain geography into a clean black-and-white drawing. The curving roads and irregular blocks make an intricate composition, and it shows at a glance how the people of eastern Chongqing have built within the hills rather than on top of them.

Valley-floor centre
Buildings cluster most densely where the ground flattens. The result is a compact core that stands out against the thinner lines of the hillsides around it.
Hill country margins
Small roads and paths lead out to the surrounding farmland and villages. They create a delicate network at the edges of the map.
