Plaza-centred grid
The historic centre follows the Spanish colonial pattern of regular blocks around a main plaza. It is the densest and most ordered part of the map.

Hato Mayor del Rey Map Poster & Print
Hato Mayor del Rey is the capital of Hato Mayor Province in the east of the Dominican Republic. The name recalls the cattle ranches, or hatos, of the colonial period, and the country around the town is still largely agricultural. On the map the town is a compact grid of streets around a central plaza, set in rolling green land.
The regular layout of the centre gives way at the edges to more irregular streets, following the lie of the land and the roads that run out to other towns in the east. Streams cross the surrounding countryside, and the fields and pastures leave the town with a sharp, clear outline against open ground.
A Hato Mayor del Rey map poster works because of that clarity. It is small enough to show whole, from the plaza outward, and the contrast between the ordered centre and the looser edges gives the plan a pleasing structure for anyone who calls this town home.

Roads to the east
Highways leave town toward neighbouring provinces and the coast. Their long lines extend the composition beyond the compact centre.
Farmland surroundings
Pasture and cultivated land surround the town, so its edge is clean and legible on a minimal print.
