Kélibia sits near the tip of the Cap Bon peninsula in northeastern Tunisia, facing the channel toward Sicily. From above, the town has three parts. There is a fishing harbour with breakwaters, a rocky hill with a fortress on it, and a town that spreads inland on flat ground with a loose grid of streets.
The fortress, built on much older foundations, overlooks the harbour and the sea. A short distance up the coast is Kerkouane, a Punic town preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area is also known for its dry muscat wine and for beaches such as El Mansoura.
