Kisinga lies in western Uganda, only a few kilometres north of the equator, on the lowland of the Albertine Rift. The Rwenzori mountains rise to the north-west, and to the south the land opens toward the lakes and savanna of the rift floor. On a map, the town is a modest cluster of streets set within a wide pattern of fields and scattered homesteads.
The layout is simple and informal. A main road carries most of the traffic, and shorter tracks branch off it toward farms and villages. Buildings gather closely near the road junctions and trading centre, then thin out quickly. Streams coming down from the high ground cross the landscape, and their faint lines add the main natural feature to an otherwise gentle terrain.
