La Felguera Map Poster & Print
La Felguera is one of the main towns of the municipality of Langreo, in the Nalón valley of central Asturias. In the nineteenth century it became a centre of the Asturian steel and coal industry. Much of its present shape comes from that period, when housing, works and railways were packed into the narrow valley.
On a map the town sits along the Nalón River, which curves through the valley with streets and blocks on both banks. Roads and rail lines follow the water, and bridges link the two sides. The town extends until the slopes rise steeply into green hillsides that are largely unbuilt.
The name is closely tied to Duro Felguera, the industrial company founded here, which became one of the best-known names in Spanish engineering. A La Felguera map poster shows a town defined by its valley, a dense urban strip held between the river and the surrounding mountains.

Valley transport lines
The railway and roads run along the valley floor beside the river. They form a bundle of parallel lines that tie the town to its neighbours.
Mountain slopes
Steep green hillsides rise on both sides of the valley. They leave broad empty areas that frame the dense town centre.
