Missérété lies in the Ouémé department of southern Benin, a short distance north of Porto-Novo and the coastal lagoons. From above, the town has no planned grid. Its streets branch out from a few main roads into irregular blocks and compound lanes, and the edges fade gradually into fields and scattered houses instead of stopping at a clear boundary.
This pattern is typical of the settlements in this part of Benin, where towns grew around markets, family compounds and the routes between villages. On a map it reads as a denser core that thins into small clusters, with short tracks linking houses to the road.
