Neuchâtel Map Poster & Print
Neuchâtel lies on the northern shore of the lake that shares its name, at the foot of the Jura mountains. From above, the city is a long strip. Its waterfront, promenades and reclaimed land run along the lake, while streets climb in tiers up the steep slope behind.
The old town gathers around the hill where the castle and collegiate church stand, and its buildings are known for the pale yellow limestone of the region. Further up, residential districts follow the contours in winding roads, and a funicular links the lower city with the heights.
Neuchâtel is closely tied to Swiss watchmaking and is home to a university. A Neuchâtel map poster shows how the city is shaped by water and slope, with a firm shoreline below and a dense old core gradually giving way to the hillside above.

Castle and church hill
The castle and collegiate church crown a rise above the old town, and the medieval streets gather tightly around it.
Terraced slopes
Above the centre, streets zigzag up the Jura foothills, their switchbacks forming a distinctive pattern on the map.
