Oghi lies in the hills of Mansehra district in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the gateway to the Agror valley. The terrain sets the layout. Instead of a grid, the town stretches along its main road and spreads onto the flatter ground at the bottom of the valley, with smaller lanes climbing the slopes. The surrounding land is folded and irregular.
Oghi serves as a local market and administrative centre for the villages of the surrounding hills. Its bazaar streets carry most of the traffic, and roads and paths branch out from it toward terraced fields and hamlets. The relationship between the town and the high country around it shows clearly from above.
