Oyugis lies in Homa Bay County, in the Rachuonyo area of western Kenya, south of the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria. On a map it is a compact market town where several roads meet. Its commercial centre gathers along the main routes, and housing spreads outward along smaller roads and paths into the surrounding farmland.
