Valley floor layout
The town occupies the flatter land in the valley, so its streets form a long band that follows the shape of the terrain.

Pampanito Map Poster & Print
Pampanito is the seat of the municipality of the same name in Trujillo state, in the Venezuelan Andes. It lies in a valley close to the city of Trujillo, and the relationship between the two is visible from above. The town stretches along the main road, with its streets filling the flatter ground of the valley floor and the mountainsides rising on either side.
This is a place defined by its setting. The valley narrows and widens, and the built area follows it, forming a long, uneven band rather than a round centre. Side streets run a short way up the slopes before giving way to farmland and steeper terrain. Streams coming down from the hills cross the map in thin lines.
A Pampanito map poster shows that linear, valley-bound form in a way a photograph cannot. The long run of road and houses, the short branches climbing the sides and the empty space of the slopes make for a composition with direction and movement. It is a simple, honest portrait of a small Andean town.

Main road spine
A single through road carries the town along its length, with shorter streets branching off on both sides like the teeth of a comb.
Mountain slopes
Steep ground on either side stops the grid abruptly, leaving wide white areas on the poster where the hills rise.
