Rangat is one of the main settlements on Middle Andaman, in the chain of islands between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. The Andaman Trunk Road runs through it, connecting Port Blair in the south with the northern islands. On the map, the town is a short stretch of streets around that road, close to a sheltered bay on the island's eastern side.
Water shapes the whole scene. The coastline is irregular, with creeks and mangrove channels reaching inland. The jetty and the bay give the town its link to the sea, while forest covers much of the land around it. Compared with the scale of the coastline, the built area is small, so on a poster the shoreline itself becomes the main subject.
