Ransiki lies on the eastern shore of the Bird's Head Peninsula in West Papua, facing the wide waters of Cenderawasih Bay. On a map, the town is a modest cluster of streets along the coast. The bay fills one side of the frame and rising, largely roadless terrain fills the other, so the poster is mostly contrast between built and unbuilt space.
The street network is sparse and practical. A coastal road links the settlement to the rest of the peninsula, and short lanes branch off it towards the shore and the higher ground.
