San Francisco is a municipality in Agusan del Sur, in the Caraga region of north-eastern Mindanao. It serves as one of the main commercial centres of the province. The town lies in the broad valley of the Agusan River basin, with forested uplands visible on its horizons and farmland spreading across the lower ground.
From above, the town is organised along the national highway, which runs straight through it and carries traffic between the northern and southern parts of Mindanao. Commercial streets cluster close to this road, and residential blocks extend on either side in a fairly regular pattern before giving way to rice fields, plantations and scattered barangays.
