Gulf coastline
The sweep of the gulf gives the poster a strong, curved lower edge, broken by breakwaters and harbour basins that stand out clearly as sharp white shapes.

Skikda Map Poster & Print
Skikda faces the Mediterranean on Algeria's northeastern coast, spread across the hills that rise straight up from a broad gulf. From above, the coastline and harbour basins form a hard edge along the bottom of the city, while streets climb and curve up the slopes behind it.
The centre was laid out in the nineteenth century as Philippeville, on the site of ancient Rusicade, and its main streets still run in fairly straight lines from the port up into the valley. A Skikda map poster sets that more regular core against the winding roads that follow the contours of the surrounding hills.
East of the old town, the waterfront turns into a large industrial port with petrochemical and gas facilities, whose long quays and geometric plots look quite different from the residential streets. Farther along the coast, beaches and headlands soften the outline again, giving the map a mix of order and natural curve.

Hillside streets
Behind the centre, roads wind up the slopes in loops and switchbacks, forming a dense, organic texture above the straighter colonial core.
Industrial quays
The port zone to the east is a pattern of long piers, tank farms and large rectangular plots, a very different geometry from the housing on the hills.
