Suwałki Map Poster & Print
Suwałki lies in the far northeast of Poland, close to the Lithuanian border. The town was laid out largely in the nineteenth century, and its centre still follows a regular grid of long, straight streets. The Czarna Hańcza river passes along the edge of the centre, adding a winding line to the otherwise orderly plan.
The region is known for its lakes, hills and forests. Wigry National Park and Suwałki Landscape Park are both close by, and the area has some of the coldest winters in Poland. Suwałki has also become well known internationally because of the Suwałki Gap, the narrow strip of land between Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
A Suwałki map poster shows a town with a strong sense of order. The main street runs straight through the centre, the grid holds together around it, and the river bends around the side. It is a clear, structured image that feels very different from the irregular towns further south.

Czarna Hańcza
The river winds past the town centre and on through the surrounding countryside. Its curves stand out against the straight lines of the grid.
Lake district
Beyond the town, lakes and forests fill the landscape of the Suwałki region. They give the outer edges of the map irregular shapes of water and woodland.
